Business portraits like magazine portraits?

From a commission to photograph the business / technology entrepreneur for the front cover of Arabian Business magazine…

The client wanted a set of images that could work across the magazine and perhpas be used as a front cover too. I suggested bringing a backdrop which would work as a uncluttered cover shot. We shots lots of editorial style portraits around the private members club where the we choose as a location.

I also played around with some fun shots where we left bits of the set showing in the images, bit of lights and edges of background to to see how this looked. I like this style where it feels you are breaking a few norms, it can kind of add to the aestetic of the shoot. I like shooting a background set up, the background and the stands within in a location for instance, it can look somehow more Heroic like you are isolating the people from the given location. The client didnt go with these images in the end but was game enough to indulge the photographer :-)
